20 ARTISTS

1 TO 2 WEEKS RESIDENCY

DIFFERENT DISCIPLINES

The LIBITUM welcomes around 20 artists every year, specialised in stage, plastic and/or digital arts. It gives them the opportunity to develop their personal projects, to work on their creative process, to write and/or compose for a period of 1 to 2 weeks.

These residences are set up to support professional art projects but also emerging creative projects of our time, in all disciplines involving arts.

RESIDENCY FOR CREATIVE PROCESS AND RESEARCH ON PERSONAL ART PROJECTS

The main goal of the residency is to allow each artist to develop and consolidate the bases and foundations of their project, develop the writing phase, give them the time and space to work on composition and dramaturgy.

This will lead to the following:

- Create the basis and necessary tools to launch and develop the production and distribution of a project.
- Present an excerpt, a reading, a phase, or the first draft of a work in progress.
- Develop during this time a thorough refection on strategies of production, on how to sell the project, and how to make it work.

The artistic residencies at LIBITUM have been created to allow each artist to have some time and space away from the day-to-day, inviting him or her to create while benefiting from the presence and constructive criticism of a group, an exchange of ideas and discussions on the way they perceive and practice their art and how they intend to work on their projects.

While exchanging ideas on each other’s work is a constant aspect of these residencies, 2 round tables are organised each week to allow the group to formally share their opinions, doubts, and receive the thoughts and constructive analysis of the group.
The first round table of the week is exclusively for resident artists and their team while the second round table of the week is open to outsiders and the public, invited to participate and debate on each project.

During his or her stay at LIBITUM, each artist is also given personalised coaching and specific support regarding production and marketing strategies for their project(s).

This initiative is made possible thanks to the support of the Roi Baudouin Foundation, the cabinet of Rachid Madrane – Promotion of Brussels –, and thanks to a private patron.
