Elsa Chêne

Elsa Chêne, French director, lives and works in Brussels.

After studying literature in Nantes, Paris and Berlin, she graduated from INSAS in Brussels in 2016.
Fascinated by the bridges that unite the body with our mental space and memories, she works on the way our intimate and collective memories distort our most familiar environments. In 2019, she presents her performance MUR/MER (2nd prize of the Danse élargie 2018 jury organized by the Théâtre de la ville, Le Musée de la danse, and the Fondation Hermès) at the Théâtre des Abbesses and the Centre-Wallonie-Bruxelles in Paris, as well as at Sadler’s Wells in London. After this project, she direct Coeur Karaoké by Victor Rachet (Théâtre Varia, Mons Arts de la Scène, March 2022) and Orphelins by British author Dennis Kelly (Théâtre Varia, April 2022). She is currently writing a new project, Azuma, a creation inspired by the Love Doll phenomenon (human-sized dolls that some men take as companions in Japan).
