Le Canine Collectif was founded in 2014 by Caroline Taillet and 9 other actors trained at the IAD.
Writer and director Caroline Taillet pursued studies in both literature and acting. These complementary backgrounds led her to write and direct her first show, La Théorie du Y. The play’s text was written while she was working on her final thesis on the subject of “Bisexuality and Theater”. As part of her thesis, she conducted research that led her to a deeper understanding of the subject and opened her eyes to the fact that very few plays dealt with bisexuality; this further increased her desire to write about it. Paul Pourveur, a bilingual Belgian playwright, who was her thesis advisor, supported her throughout the writing of the text. Her thesis jury, composed of writers and theater directors, strongly encouraged her to bring this text to life during her defense. This is how La Théorie du Y came to be in 2014.
Caroline Taillet wrote La Théorie du Y with the first intention of defending the freedom to fall in love, regardless of whether it is with a man or a woman. She wanted to talk about bisexuality through her own experience in the hopes that one day we would be able to talk about it freely.
The Canine Collectif works in collaboration with the ASBL Altervisio. Together, they create and lead workshops around the show La Théorie du Y on the theme of bisexuality.
