Moutoufs
Moutoufs, that’s what they called us Moroccans on the playground. Today it makes us laugh, but only today. Especially since we’re not even real “Moutoufs”, just half-“Moutoufs”.
This show is the story of five Belgians who have a Moroccan father. It could have also been the story of five Moroccans who have a Belgian mother. But it isn’t, that’s the point.
All five of them carry around a suitcase of their identity inside which pots and pans fight in duels. They’ve gathered to share their own experiences about being Belgian, but having a Moroccan father; being Moroccan, but not speaking Arabic. At the intersection of two cultures they happily take apart clichés and discuss the freedom of being oneself beyond the matter of social heritage and dictates. Like them, the show is diverse and colorful. It investigates the Moutouf housed in each of them, and could be summed up in the question: where do I go from here?

The play has this spectacular merit: to show the way to the freedom to be oneself, beyond inheritances and social injunctions.
