Les châteaux de mes tantes
Les châteaux de mes tantes (My Aunts’ Castles) is an interactive installation aiming to create a jukebox holding the memories of women from Tunisian, Algerian and Moroccan descent.
Les châteaux de mes tantes, is a way to be at the service of the stories of these women. To create togehter a space to storage and share discussions about their history.
The first group participating in this interactive creation is composed by Jamila Boufrira, Benkara Fatima Zohra, Malika Bensaid et Sabah Akay. For 3 dats, at Espace Magh (Brussels), we have danced, eaten, talked, laughed and cried. The creation of this installation is born out of the discussions that have animated those days of exchanges.
The public monstration of this creation will occur on 12 October at Espace Magh (Bruxelles). We choose for the interactive object to use a Maghrebin jukebox, designed by those women and constructed by Samy Barras. This jukebox will be put in a scenography of a welcoming living room with tea, cushions, pictures and videos of those women realised by Pauline Vanden Neste. An installation that allows to sit down and take the time to listen and receive these stories.
Les châteaux de mes tantes is an ever evolving installation. Each year, we aim to host a new workshop with new people and so to accumulate stories as a work of archives of our memories, within a joyful and artistic form that will each time be designeg with the participants.
Les châteaux de mes tantes is created in a broader connection with the theater piece Les châteaux de ma mère (creation October 2026).
