Julie Benegmos
The author and director, Julie Benegmos founded the Libre Cours Co in 2017.
Navigating between experimental theater, documentary theater and fiction, she seizes new technologies, explores the hybridization of media and calls upon a mix of artists from different backgrounds to create innovative projects that question the place of the audience and its participation in the work.
For her first creation L’Oubli, Julie Benegmos attempts to play a live video game with the audience. An animated character is designed especially for the project and a fake video game is projected on stage during the performance.
In her second show, Julie Benegmos continues her first creation and writes the sequel to her first show: Après l’Oubli. This time, the spectators play a live bingo game with the actress on stage and can thus modify the order of the scenes in the play.
In parallel, she also writes for the cinema with Le 7e Jour (feature film) and Judicaël (fiction series).
Created in 2021, Strip : Au risque d’aimer – ça is her third production. This show, in which she is also a performer, was presented at the Kiasma, then in Toulouse as part of the Supernova Festival, on the stage of the Scène Nationale de Sète, at the WET Festival in Tours, then at the Théâtre le Périscope, in Montpellier at the Printemps des Comédiens Festival, as well as in Paris at the Paris l’été Festival organized by the Théâtre Montfort and at the Théâtre 13 in Paris.
She seeks to question the spectator and to shake up his preconceived ideas, this is what she seeks to create in her films as well as in her plays. Nourished by her background mixing writing, acting and directing, her work as a director is multidisciplinary and mixes video, sound, speech and dance.
