Jasmina Douieb
Trained in Romance philology and later specializing in Spanish literature at ULB, she eventually turned to the stage (Conservatoire of Brussels). She initially performed extensively, notably at Théâtre Le Public and Zone Urbaine Théâtre (Chaos Debout, Yvonne princesse de Bourgogne, Juliette à la foire, and Incendies). Almost by chance, she began directing with Cyrano (Château du Karreveld, 2001), followed by La Princesse Maleine at Zut, a production that led to the founding of the company Entre chiens et loups in 2005. Subsequently, she directed works such as Littoral (Best Director 2008), Le cercle de craie, Himmelweg, and Taking Care of Baby (Best Director 2017).
Her training instilled in her a literary approach and a passion for exploring the essence of texts. She has also co-written several plays with Thierry Janssen, including Alice, Fantômas, and Chaplin at Théâtre du Parc. Moutoufs, a collective and polyphonic piece on the theme of identity, was awarded Best Director in 2018 and toured for about a hundred performances.
In 2020/21, she ventured into object theater for young audiences with Kosmos, a co-creation with Lara Hubinont, presented at Théâtre de la Montagne Magique, Atelier 210, and Maison de la Création in Laeken. She continued her writing work with Je te Promets (co-written with Matthieu Donck), premiered in September 2022 at Vilar and Théâtre Varia, and Post Mortem in 2023 (a co-production with Théâtre Varia, Théâtre Les Tanneurs, and Vilar).
Her literary approach extends to the dystopian rewriting of Trois sœurs by Japanese author Oriza Hirata, scheduled for March/April 2025 at Théâtre Varia and Vilar, and November 2025 at Théâtre de Liège. This production will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of the company Entre chiens et loups, bringing together a large and talented team.
She has been teaching for about ten years at the Conservatoire of Mons, as well as at INSAS and IAD.
On screen, she has appeared in the series La Trêve (by Matthieu Donck) and the upcoming Arcanes (by Michèle Jacob), as well as in L’Employée du mois (by Véronique Jadin) and Chienne de vie (by Xavier Seron).
