In a small rural village, the inhabitants are preparing for the harvest. But on this summer evening there is a full moon and the teenagers can’t seem to get to sleep. They intend to enjoy their youth even if it means disobedience. Discreetly, they leave their beds, forget their sleepiness, and meet under the big oak tree in the heart of the dark forest.
Robin has to meet Marion. They have everything planned and the night promises to be ideal. But Alice and Richard can’t seem to fall asleep either. This is how the four characters find themselves all together, by chance, in the forest. But in the darkness, we make mistakes, kiss another person, hide, and see things that we shouldn’t. Nothing they had planned is going as planned…
A full success. We can but agree with it, and even more so as it updates the theme of scorned lovers by addressing what is not traditionally expressed by classical authors, and brings to it a violence that is usually relegated to the hidden, unexpressed sides.
Michel Voiturier – Rue du Théâtre
These eternal themes of love and sexuality are rarely addressed head-on in the Théâtre Jeune Public. They are as delicate as they are essential. Etienne Lepage’s text takes them on and treats them dramatically without limitation or provocation, by bringing close together the desires and doubts that inhabit the minds of most teenagers, if not that of adults.
